Windows XP Setup Directions

1.  Click on Start then then Control Panel.  If you are in Category view then click on Switch to Classic View

2.  Double Click Network Connections

3.  Click on Create a new Connection (on the top left side)

4.  Click Next

5.  Put a dot in Connect to the Internet, click Next

6.  Put a dot in Set up my Connection Manually, click Next

7.  Put a dot in Connect using a Dial-up Modem, click Next

8.  Enter Kiva in the box, click Next

9.  Enter phone number in box, click Next

10. Enter your Username in box (username@bloomington.in.us)

11. Enter your password

12. Confirm your password

13. Click Next

14. Put a check in the box Add a Shortcut to my Desktop, click Finish

15. Click on Properties

16. Under General tab make sure that Use dialing rules box is not checked

17. Under Networking tab make sure that PPP is the type of Dial-Up server

18. Click Settings

19. Only box checked should be in Enable LCP extensions, Click OK

20. TCP/IP and QoS Packet Scheduler are the only ones checked

21. Highlight (left click) Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button

22. Make sure that Obtain an IP address is selected

23. Make sure that "Use the following DNS Server Address" is selected

24. In the Preferred DNS box enter 216.9.137.1

25. Hit the Tab key on your keyboard

26. In the Alternate DNS box Enter 216.9.137.100

27. Click the Advanced button

28. Clear the Use IP header compression check box

29. Click OK

30. Click OK 

31. Click OK
